SourceForge 下通知了，由于 [mac-port] 许可问题，将于几天内将本项目从 SourceForge 清楚。得到这样的结果不是我所希望的，但没办法，Monkey's Audio 的许可是个大问题，早就让很多人所诟病。作者又联系不到，实在不行的就只好挪回到自己的主页上，这样受影响的地方可就多了去了，基本上所有的链接都是到 SourceForge 的，恐怕以后会有什么问题。我估计最好的解决方法是跟作者聊聊许可的问题，争取达到算法本身以及 APE 格式完全公开，别人的实现可以采用别的许可。不过似乎也不太可能。

Right, I am explaining why it was removed from SourceForge, the problem is the license issue, quotes from David Burley (Quality of Service Analyst, SourceForge.net) :
Sentence 2 of item 1 in the license effectively bans use of the code in
proprietary efforts that don't support the APE protocol. This
effectively creates 2 fields of endeavor, those that support the APE
protocol and those that don't support the APE protocol. Those that are
proprietary and don't support the APE protocol are effectively banned as
permission must be granted outside the license terms. This keeps someone
from, say, reusing a function they like in the library's code to
implement a proprietary OGG vorbis decoder.
Beyond that, there are other inconsistencies with that license, its a
very poor license in my opinion.

I am sorry about this, IMO, XMMS is outdated, so no update on this plugin in the future, please use other music players, like Audacious, BMPx, etc. But now I have no time working on the plugins for other players. So hack for it or wait for it.
Problem with Monkey's audio songs.
How many Linux players can play Monkey's audio? I have lots of songs in this format, and I cannot hear it in Linux, with Windows, I have a Winamp plugin.

AFAIK XMMS2 and audacious use mac-port as the backend, and MPlayer has native support with playback only. I submitted a premature patch to GStreamer Monkey's Audio plugin which doesn't support seeking. Xine has no support.
